Metropolitan Cathedral, Panama city, Panama
Metropolitan Cathedral is a Roman Catholic Cathedral located in Casco Viejo in Panama City, Panama. The cathedral was built between 1688 and 1796 and represents one of the finest examples of colonial architecture in Panama. Its bells were taken to the "Old Panama" cathedral after latter was destroyed in 1671.
Metropolitan Cathedral was in critical state until 2003 when it was beautifully restored. In front of the Metropolitan Cathedral is the Independence Plaza where was declared the independence of Panama from Columbia in 1903.
