The Blue Church, Slovakia
Church of St Elisabeth or also known as the Blue Church is a Roman Catholic church located in the Old Town of Bratislava, Slovakia. The church was built between 1907 and 1913 after the design of Hungarian architect Edmund Lechner from 1903/04 in Art Nouveau style. The Blue Church is dedicated to Elisabeth of Hungary, daughter of the Hungarian King Andrew II.
Because of the characteristic blue color of its facade, mosaics, majolicas and blue-glazed roof the church is commonly referred as the Blue Church. Above the main entrance is the mosaic of St Elisabeth who was born in the Bratislava Castle in 1207. Her portrait is also in the main altar.
