La Santísima Trinidad de Paraná, Paraguay

La Santísima Trinidad de Paraná also referred as the Holy Trinity of Paraná or simply the "ruins of Trinidad" are the ruins of Jesuit mission in Paraguay located in the Parana River area near the city of Encarnación, Paraguay. The Jesuit Reduction – small colony was established by the Jesuit missionaries in Paraguay to "civilize" and catechize the native population.

Ruins of Trinidad
La Santísima Trinidad de Paraná was constructed in 1706 but it was abandoned after the Jesuit Order in Europe was dissolved in 1773. Relatively late construction of the Trinidad Reduction enabled the preservation of this miniature city-state and was also inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1993. The nearby Jesuit Reduction Jesús de Tavarangue also listed in the UNESCO World Heritage sites was built in 1685.
